I signed up for your emails yesterday, and it’s nice to see that you practice what your preach! Now I just have to get my own blog house in order!

I think your both right to some extent. I mean what your doing seems to work, but as well its good to send out a message and as well do the other steps Ramsay mentions.

I try not to emphasise that I expect people are having problems though or that can put people off.

I’ve always used a long autoresponder series for my opt-in’s – the keeping in touch and communicating regularly approach. I like the more softly-softly approach of a couple of short emails with a link to a “read more here” page.

Thanks for all the great ideas (as always!)
Cassie.

Good to see you again Lewis!

A few people have said they like the idea of being thanked for signing up so I’m sticking with it. 🙂

I knew absolutely nothing about blogging a month ago, and now, with your help, I’ve set up a pretty decent-looking blog that I think really represents who I am.
Loved this post too. I haven’t really had a chance to build up an email following, but that is the goal of course. I’m using Feedburner at the moment, but I’m getting the message that maybe I should switch over to a more serious service if I want to appear professional. I’m hesitant to try Aweber because I’m not sure I want to spend any more money, but I also get the impression that switching mailing software once I get some subscribers might not be a great idea. Food for thought.
